The world has too much information to process, so we automatically filter the world according to our values and ignore what we deem irrelevant.

So in each moment, we focus our attention on what seems most valuable and are motivated to move towards it. In this way, we live in a world made of our values, a world in which we move towards, pursue, and attain what we believe is valuable.
III.
Yet, values are revealed through actions and their outcomes. When chasing or attaining leaves us worse rather than better, we're likely chasing false values—confusing fear for prudence, control for health, or validation for connection.
