Zero to 1: June's Topic Revealed, AI Updates & Question of the Month
Perception vs Reality
Welcome to the first month of the new format!
At the start of each month, I will share the Topic, our AI Project updates, the month's question, and a preview of the content ahead.
Then, each week, a 60-second article with 3 Insights, 2 Quotes, and 1 Question designed to help you go from Zero to 1 (Aha moment). At the end of the month, I’ll publish a Deep Dive on the Topic.
This Month's Topic: Perception vs Reality
Here is something neat: each month's content is designed to build on the previous month, allowing us to go deeper, and this order reflects how we perceive the world.
Naturally, Perception is our first topic. Here is a preview of this month's content:

AI & Tech
Perception has profound implications for AI Systems. It impacts what information is perceived and how it’s interpreted and later communicated to humans. Perception touches every level of building an AI Product.
Here is how Perception Relates to AI
Training Data and Bias: Human perception influences the selection and interpretation of training data used in machine learning models.
Human-AI Interaction: To be effective, AI interfaces must align with human sensory perceptions. For example, voice assistants need to understand and predict human perceptual responses to provide relevant and efficient interactions.
AI Interpretability and Trust: For users to trust and effectively interact with AI, the way AI systems present information and explain their decisions must resonate with human perceptual and cognitive processes.
Safety and Reliability: In critical applications like autonomous driving or medical diagnostics, AI systems must perceive the environment or medical images accurately and in ways aligned with human experts’ perceptions.
Adaptive Interfaces: AI systems can be designed to adapt to individual differences in perception, such as visual or auditory impairments, enhancing accessibility and personalization. Knowledge of human perception enables AI designers to create systems that adapt to and accommodate various human sensory and cognitive variations.
Why this is important
Understanding human Perception's role in interpreting our world is vital to building Ethical AI Systems that mitigate Bias and other dangers.
The Reason why Understanding Perceptions is Key, is because it Shapes Everything You See.
